Holiday let owners icon

Holiday let owners

Lake District, Cornwall, Wales, the South West — rural and coastal areas where public charging is sparse and guests arrive in EVs expecting to charge overnight. GuestCharge bills them fairly for every kWh, automatically.

Small hotels icon

Small hotels & boutique stays

No need for expensive charge-point management software. GuestCharge plugs into your existing OCPP charger and handles guest billing via QR code — no front desk involvement required.

B&B icon

B&Bs & guest houses

You already absorb a hundred small costs per stay. Guest EV charging doesn't have to be one of them. GuestCharge recovers your electricity costs per kWh, within OFGEM's resale rules.

Retreat icon

Self-catering & rural retreats

Remote venues, glamping sites, and self-catering complexes where guests park up and charge all week. No staff needed to manage it — guests pay themselves, you receive a monthly Stripe payout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about accepting guest payments for EV charging.

Yes. OFGEM's 2014 Maximum Resale Price (MRP) direction currently excludes EV charging from the per-kWh resale cap. However, OFGEM is reviewing this in 2026 — the safer practice today, and likely the law from 2027, is to charge no more per kWh than your supplier charges you, with reasonable service fees separately. GuestCharge is built around this principle.Read more: How to Bill Holiday Let Guests for EV Charging.
Strictly, yes. Under the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), any meter used for billing must be certified. Most domestic EV chargers do not include one as standard. GuestCharge works with both MID and non-MID setups, and our guide walks through what kit you would need to be fully compliant.Read more: MID-Meter Compliance for UK Holiday Let EV Chargers.
OFGEM ran a Call for Input on the Maximum Resale Price direction in late 2025, with EV charging at accommodation specifically named for review. A policy update is expected in 2026 and may close the existing EV exclusion. GuestCharge is built to be compliant whichever way the review lands.
GuestCharge enforces a per-kWh billing model that complies with OFGEM's likely 2026 position. We cannot make your meter MID-certified if it isn't, but we will tell you what your kit is doing and what the practical implications are. We're operators in this space and we read every relevant consultation.
With GuestCharge, you create an account, connect your charger, set your price per kWh, and share a QR code with guests. Guests scan, pay by card via Stripe, and you receive automatic payouts. No app download is required for guests.
GuestCharge works with chargers that support OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) and can connect to a third-party backend. You can check compatibility and view charger-specific setup steps in the Integration Guides inside the Host Dashboard.
GuestCharge is free to set up with no monthly fees. We charge a 10% platform fee only on guest charging revenue. Guests pay standard card processing fees at checkout.
